The film follows Jeff Mangum, a full-time pastor, and Jeremy Hamann, a full-time student, as they travel throughout the United States Midwest in search of Jeremy’s first tornado, and Jeff’s first EF-5 tornado -- the most elusive and strongest of any storm on earth. In pursuing their life-long fascination with storms, Jeff and Jeremy begin to confront the idea of loving something that causes unspeakable destruction. They are forced to question the decision to leave their families for days at a time to drive into potentially lethal situations and ask what purpose such a passion could possibly serve.
