Recently I have read a lot about people saying they are going to stop using V LOG because it's too much of a hassle and the resulting images don't look good and they're not worth it. I was starting to agree. This short has given me some hope though. It's not perfect, but it's way less noisy than other recent projects I've shot with V Log. My process: Internal 8bit V Log. Film Convert V Log Preset. Color Finale. Using an adjustment layer here is what really made the biggest difference. I used ImpulZ-Rec709 Generic and Rec709_Kodak Elite Chrome 200_VS.cube. No noise reduction in camera or post. I'm pretty sure this was mostly shot at iso 400, but I am not 100% certain. A few shots were on the GoPro Hero 3 in autotune using the same Color Finale Luts and Film Convert Profiles. I also turned the grain way up to 200 which helped mask some noise. Almost every shot was exposed dead on according to the histogram on the GH4's LCD. Lenses: Sigma Art 18-35 1.8. Lumix 35-100 2.8. One Light for the interior shots in the beginning. A 672 Aputure bi-colored LED set to 4200K and bounced off the ceiling and walls. Never direct. For the car shots I used the flash light on my iPhone. Don't get me wrong, it's still noisy, but I'm encouraged because it's the least noisy I have been able to achieve personally with V Log. Vollmer Visuals treyvollmer.com Florida
